Meredith and Zach are good friends of my wife and I. I knew Zach from highschool, although not too well, and Sarah knows Meredith from working bridal shows together in college. Additionally, I was the Dallas wedding photographer for Meredith’s sister, Claire. Needless to say, when Meredith asked me to be her wedding photographer I was thrilled!

Obviously, my favorite bridesmaid, but that’s beside the point, isn’t she just gorgeous? (That’s my wife, Sarah, for those who don’t know).

The boys played a “high risk” game of poker once they were done getting ready. As you can see, the wedding rings are in the pot. Good thing Zach won! Haha.

This photo took me forever to get right with the limited lighting in the old mill part of the Cotton Mill.

There were some wicked storms that night, but everyone was having too much fun to care.

As you can see, it was a wonderful and festive evening for all involved. Congratulations, Zach and Meredith! I am so glad to have been a part of your special day.

They opted to have our awesome green screen photobooth at their reception and we had a lot of fun with it. As you can see from the picture below, I even joined in with my lovely wife (who was also a bridesmaid).

I got to spend this past New Year’s Eve photographing the beautiful wedding of Katie and Joel! I met Katie a while back through my dad’s ministry and it was a joy to be a part of her special day. You already saw her awesome Trash the Dress shoot in Hawaii, but here are some of the pictures from the wedding itself. We started the day at one of the girls’ houses for hair and makeup.

This ring bearer may be one of the cutest ones I’ve seen. And he definitely knows how to rock a fedora.

We have been offering a Photo Booth at weddings for a while now, but we decided to try something new with Katie and Joel’s wedding and did a green screen booth. It was a great hit!

This party definitely rang in the New Year right!

The best man was a fantastic dancer! He and his lovely dance partner were a ton of fun to watch all night.

Joel and Katie got married on New Year’s Eve in Denton (check back for those pictures soon!). Just a few days later, I had the great honor of traveling with them (and my beautiful wife, Sarah) to Hawaii for a Trash the Dress / Post-Wedding destination shoot! Sometimes referred to as a Newly-Wed shoot. We had a lot of fun doing this and these photos turned out great!

We started off in a cave off of Kaneana beach on the west side of Oahu island. This neat place is right off the highway, but hard to see at first. It’s not you’re tourist cave either. It’s deep and pitch black when you keep going back. Luckily, I have lights!

I used my wireless strobe to illuminate the cave and show it’s features. We didn’t go deep, so the light on them is actually ambient light coming from the opening. On the shot below I used a red gel to give the background some color. Deep red was one of their wedding colors, so I stuck with that.

Here’s a good shot that shows the opening back behind them.

Then we headed to the beach. We hit a few different ones, but they were all close to Waianae, HI.

Lighting became a little challenge, but luckily I had Sarah, my lovely wife, to assist. The reflector did amazing work.

They loved this tree so we had to get a shot with it, hehe.

After sunset, we had just a little twilight left, but we sure made the best of it.

At this point, it’s super dark, but these cameras have come a long way. Strobes and lenses help too. What you don’t see here is Sarah holding my lights so the ocean doesn’t take them away.

Then things got a little wild!

We all had a blast on the shoot, and Sarah and I made a vacation out of the trip. If you want to help pay part of my way to make it to your honeymoon destination for some awesome photos… let’s talk! I’m always down!

Look out for a video coming your way soon. Sarah took behind the scenes video and I plan on editing something eventually.

The post Joel and Katie’s destination trash the dress wedding photoshoot – Oahu Hawaii appeared first on DTX Weddings.

Lorraine is a good photography and video friend of mine from our college years in Denton at UNT. I was excited when she asked me to shoot her wedding, naturally. Lorraine, at the University of North Texas, was a RTVF (film) major, over the past couple years she’s been in Israel doing mission work for the Baha’i faith. This is where she met Cole, who is also doing the same thing. Cole is a photo archivist, photographer and marble/wood sculptor. Again, it’s flattering to have a photographer and videographer ask you to photograph their wedding.

We started out a at Delaney Salons in Coppell Texas. The hair and makeup artists did a wonderful job, of course, they had a wonderful client to work with in Lorraine.

Here’s a shot of her bouquet. Neat little trick I did, the raw photo is actually oriented 180 degrees (upside-down).

We then headed to the wedding ceremony and reception venue Ashton Gardens in Corinth, TX. This is always a great place for wedding photography. Lorraine and Cole had a day-time wedding, which allowed the light to shine though all the large windows.

After the wedding we headed out to a park with what little sunlight we had left and got some cute photos.

Here’s some shots of them with vintage cameras. One of Lorraine’s friends, a photographer and college roommate,  brought these props and was also taking photos. Very cute!

And here’s my favorite shot of the night. Gorgeous!

Alright, so there’s a pretty great story here. The ring bearer had somehow gotten behind the wheel of a golf cart, but his legs weren’t long enough to reach the breaks. His dad was in front of the cart as another attendant jumped in to hit the breaks. And this Dallas wedding photographer caught this epic moment on film.

No one was injured and dad was in good spirits shortly thereafter.

Leasha, CJ and I ventured around the grounds for a few posed Wedding photos.

And so begins the reception!

Leasha, the lovely bride that she is, sang for her groom at the reception. Definitely a fun moment for everyone.

You all might remember Natalie and Josh from their engagement photography shoot a few months back. Well, their wedding day finally came at the end of September! Though the rain dampened the city of Plano, spirits at this wedding were high and it made for some beautiful wedding photography!

Your Plano wedding photographer started the day at First Presbyterian in Plano for hair and makeup with the lovely ladies.

Josh is a military man. This wedding photographer has had the chance to photography quite a few weddings of men in uniform, it sure makes for some great photos!

Ah… the anticipation photographs.

Isn’t she just a gorgeous bride?

Natalie and Josh and your Plano wedding photographer hung out in the sanctuary for a while to get some post-wedding photos.

This piano made for some great reflection-photography, which this wedding photographer LOVES! Natalie plays piano, so these were meaningful as well.

The rain never stopped.

From the church we headed over to the Swingin’ D Ranch in Parker, TX

Natalie has played piano her whole life and they had this custom cake-topper made with Josh in his uniform and her at a purple piano.

The rain let up enough for this Plano wedding photographer to get a gorgeous sparkler send-off for the bride and groom.

Katherine and I go way back to UNT when she was on the dance team and I was a photojournalist. I photographed her for the UNT dance team, had a lifestyle portrait shoot with Katherine and even did her and Cody’s maternity photos. Naturally when she contacted me about her wedding, I was excited to be their wedding photographer. We started out at her mom’s house where the ladies had their hair and makeup done. Katherine is now a Dallas Stars Ice girl, so she’s easy going and a natural in front of the camera.

Here’s her dog. This guy was so cute!

Speaking of cute, this little girl made this wedding photographer’s job easy! Sporting some sunglasses here.

The ladies wore button downs, but no worries, there are shorts under there.

The ceremony/reception was held at the Delaney Vineyards in Grapevine, TX. I’ve been to a lot of location as a wedding photographer and I loved the location!

We started the wedding day with the girls at the Dry Bar in Plano, TX for hair and makeup.

From there we went back to the house to get photography of the girls getting ready for the wedding day!

Such a beautiful and fun group of ladies!

The ceremony/reception was held at Reflection on Spring Creek in Plano.

I managed to convince Angela and Jeremy to take some posed photography together after the ceremony , though they both really wanted to get to the reception. Angela e-mailed me the next day to say how pleased she was that I got them to do such and I believe you’ll agree on just how great these pictures turned out!

The bride and groom were on the dance floor all night from the first dance to the last and everyone had a blast!

The girls took over the dance floor. They ride horses / do equestrian stuff with Angela.

Robert and Jennifer flew out to Colorado to have their wedding. Near Denver, Westminster to be exacta the Noah’s event center. I drove up from Dallas, and had a great time. I even made road trip out of it and made a video with my remote control helicopter. The photo above is my favorite from the wedding!

Perhaps the best part about the whole trip for me was the uniqued catered chipotle. Usually, they just box burritos, but because the wedding was in Denver, the birthplace of Chipotle, they’ll do self-serve catering. I’ve always dreamed of the day when I could make my own burrito.

Michael and Kassie got married at Noahs Event Center in Las Colinas Irving, TX. I know Michael from college and was excited to be their wedding photographer.

Kassie is well, beautiful. She almost looks unreal in this photo, haha. The girls got ready at the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas Resort and Golf Club. The place was really nice, although due to the nature of early August in Texas (100+ degree weather), we didn’t venture too far from the hotel room.

Nana helped put the dress on. She also sewed a couple meaningful blue fabric hearts into into the interior of the dress.

All set for the wedding. This was actually the inside of the hotel cabana room area. It made for pretty photography.

Onto Noah’s in Las Colinas Irving, Here’s Michael. This is one of my favorite photos I’ve taken of the groom getting ready. Michael looks like a stud in this photograph.

This was right before the kiss, I had to do it. I basically got floor level next to an aisle to get a lens flare. As a photographer, I usually avoid walking down the aisle at all, but I had to break that for this one photograph.

Onto the reception, also at Noah’s in Las Colinas Irving, Texas.

First Dance.

After the entrance, prayer and a little food, and some prodding from their photographer , we were able to run outside and get a few photos of just the two of them right at sunset.

Back inside, time for the toasts!

Onto the dancing, Always makes for good photography!

I have a special macro lens and marco flash that I use just for wedding ring shots. I always love the photography results of the macro ring shots. Here’s a couple.

The last dance (shown below to the right). It was just them two as the guests lined up outside for a sparkler exit.

I had a blast photographing their wedding and was happy to be their Las Colinas wedding photographers. Also thanks to my second photographer Travis for his help!

Drew and Kristen had a beautiful wedding in Mckinney, TX and I was fortunate enough to be their Mckinney wedding photographer. We started at her parents house where a limo was parked. Makeup started out a a salon in Allen. This is the maid of honor. Kristen did her own makeup.

This was her parents dog. He was with us helping the girls get ready.

These girls while waiting for the bride and groom took a sharpie to their fans and made mustaches. They sought me out as the mckinney wedding photographer, and I was able to snag this shot before the ceremony started. I thought it was pretty awesome.

Dylan and Erika got married in Ennis, Texas just south of Dallas, Texas and they choose me as their Dallas wedding photographer. Dylan is a photographer also, which is always a compliment to do photography for another photographer.

We started out at a had and makeup salon off the Ennis, Texas downtown square for wedding photography of the bride Kelly and her bridesmaids getting ready.

The decor at the wedding reception was amazing. I see a lot of great stuff as a Dallas wedding photographer, but this was really unique and really cool. Her bouquet is shown to the right. It was her grandmothers and has been blessed by the pope. It was a really big deal. Pretty neat.

We started out at The Conservatory Day Spa and Salon in  Kingwood, TX. Just north of Humble, TX. After that we headed to the ceremony area, Walden on Lake Houston Country Club‎. The original plan was to have the wedding outdoors, but rain forced them inside. They and all their friends and family did a wonderful job of turning the reception area into a beautiful ceremony spot.

After the ceremony we had just enough daylight to take some photos of just the bride and groom outside near the golf course. It was beautiful out there, and the rain held off for us. It made for some nice Atascocita wedding photography.

This guy brought a cardboard cutout of a friend who wasn’t able to make the wedding. This is the second cardboard cutout I’ve seen at a wedding. Could this be a growing trend?? haha. Alex was a good sport and danced with him too.

The wedding was right at the end of that year. Which means Christmas! Look for some of the holiday decor. They dig a beautiful job with the details.

Katie and her dad had a neat … not sure if  ’choreographed’ is the right word… father daughter dance. It was wild.

And the best part of the bell tower chapel… the bell ringing! Katie put some muscle into it.

Just Married. We then followed the newly weds to a parking garage for a couple more photos. Here’s a neat shot that Chelsea took while on our way. I promise I wasn’t photographing and driving at the same time.

Devin and Kayla had their wedding at the One World Theatre in Austin, Texas which made for wonderful wedding photography. Kayla started by getting her make-up and hair done at the Jose Luis Salon in Austin.

Devin and Kayla chose to see each other before the wedding. I had them meet and hold hands between a door before they revealed themselves to each other. It was a very cute moment and even emotional for them.

Kayla loved these wooden doors so we made sure to get a photo of everyone in front of them.

Matt and Diveth had their wedding at TWU’s Little Chapel in the Woods, followed by their reception a the Wildwood Inn in Denton, Texas. Diveth is Colombian and very pretty. See the photography below.

Designed by architect O’Neil Ford the Little Chapel-in-the-Woods is designated one of Texas’ 20 most outstanding architectural achievements by the Texas Society of Architects. The students and faculty of Texas Woman’s University actively participated in both raising the funds for and designing all the artwork in the Chapel. Throughout 1938 and 1939, more than 300 TWU students and faculty members built components of the Chapel. The Chapel seats 110 persons, including seating in the balcony. The chapel makes for fantastic Denton wedding photography.

Just so he doesn’t get in trouble, I posed this shot. haha. The ceremony started a late due to a missing piece of the dress, but it turned out just fine!

The first wedding in the Chapel took place in September of 1939, a full month before First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt dedicated the Little Chapel on November 1, 1939. The historic “TWU Bride’s Book” lists many of the weddings that were held in the Chapel over the years. When you select the Chapel for your wedding, you are not only choosing a beautiful place but also becoming part of a rich tradition.

Right before the start of the reception, Diveth experienced a medical scare, and her return seemed unlikely. When she did return, and they made their entrance everyone was overjoyed, applauding, smiling and cheering. She was quite the trooper!

Jason and Linden had their wedding at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, Japanese Gardens near Dallas. Always a gorgeous location. We started taking photography at the Hotel of hair and makeup.

Heres Jason. Jason works in video production for the Dallas Stars. It’s always a compliment to be hired by someone else in the visual arts industry. I was happy to be their Fort Worth Wedding Photographer.

Here’s the Dallas Stars garter. Of course, Jason is also a Stars fan. Very appropriate.

Before we left the total to go to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens we took some photography of Linden in her dress. She chose not to get bridals in her wedding package, so we were fortunate enough to have time to take these. This couch in the foyer and glass background made for perfect photos. Don’t you love her dress too?

This bridge is iconic for the gardens.

The girls thought I was crazy at first when I asked them to walk out onto the “floating” stones, but the picture turned out really cute.

Linden is a twin. It was my first time to photograph a wedding of a twin, I find them visually fascinating. And in this particular case, they’re both beautiful.

Toast! This was one of my favorite photos from the reception.

I was happy to be part of their special day. Thanks to Tre, my second photographer . I hope to do more weddings in Fort Worth, Texas.

Lori & Kyle had their wedding at Denton Bible Church in Denton, TX. Just north of Dallas, Texas. The churches column make for nice photography, you’ll see that I use them quite a bit.

Denton Bible Church started as a church with very humble beginnings. Through constant prayer, faith in God, and abundant grace, Denton Bible Church has introduced many people to Jesus as well as deepened their faith with dt biblical teaching and discipleship.

 

This little girl had moved outside the ceremony area because she was making noise, but that didn’t stop her from watching!

Macro ring photos are always some of my favorite to take as a denton wedding photographer.

And the balloons set free.

Piazza in the Village in Colleyville, TX is a fantastic venue for both the bride and groom as well as the Colleyville Wedding Photographer. One of the best in the Dallas area. Kate and Owen had their wedding here earlier this year and it was beautiful. We started at the Terrace Retreat Salon in the Hilton at Southlake Town Square for some Southlake Wedding Photography. Kate and her bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done here.

I know Kate from  her sister Sarah in elementary school. We grew up in an enormous school district. I was honored to be her colleyville wedding photographer.

Naturally Kate was getting teary eyed with all the excitement and emotion from her Colleyville Wedding. I made sure to capture some photography of the moment. I love this picture, as she’s smiling and you can just see the genuine joy on her face. One of her bridesmaids is touching up makeup and removing tears.

Colleyville Wedding Photographer Jonny also captured the guys getting ready. I won’t post a ton, because we all know we care more about the bride, but Owen was great to work, a nice down to earth guy. Here he is helping one of his groomsman with his tie.

Then onto pinning on his flower.

They had a beautiful wedding reception which made for great Colleyville wedding photography. Check out the ice sculpture and the cake. The R is for their last name, and the cake, just wow!

They had a photo booth set up outside the reception area. Here’s a few guest before they went to get their picture taken.

Onto the dancing! One of the joys of being a Colleyville wedding photographer to being able to just enjoy myself and others having fun. I love to capture the emotions and excitement of faces on the dance floor.

One of my favorite photos to take is the macro ring shot. I have a special lens and flash just for it. Their rings were really cool so they made for nice images.

Next was the bouquet toss followed by the garter toss. They actually released them from a balcony overlooking a breezeway area.

Last a bubble exit to finish off the Colleyville wedding photography day.

This was a great wedding. Thanks To Kate and Owen for letting me photograph it and thanks to my second photographer, Tre. I was so happy to be their Southlake and Colleyville Wedding Photographer.

The girls had a lot of fun. Here we replaced bouquets with wine bottles. They had plenty of them, haha.

The W Hotel looks over downtown Dallas, so you can see the skyline for the pool area. This made for good photography

Everything took place in Uptown dallas. It’s a high end part of Dallas near Highland Park. I’m a highland park wedding photographer so that works out nicely. Highland park wedding photography is great. I get to work with wonderful people like Casey and Andrew. I was happy to be their Dallas / highland park wedding photographer.

The reception took place at the starlight room in Dallas’s West End, a place you’ll find photographers frequently. With such a gorgeous wedding, bride and groom, I’m surprised we didn’t have a couple photographers crash the wedding. haha.

Overall it was a great day. I apologize for this post being so late, and more light content. Expect to see more ‘lost weddings’ making their way onto the blog soon.
